The Old Bridge (1566), rebuilt in 2004 and listed by UNESCO, arches over the green Neretva. Divers jump from it in summer.

What to see

  • Stari Most and the Kujundžiluk bazaar
  • The minaret of the Koski Mehmed-paša Mosque, for the classic bridge view
  • Muslibegović House, an Ottoman family home
  • The bridge divers, who jump about 20 m into the river

A day in Mostar

Come to the bridge early, before 9:00, when the stones are empty. Walk Kujundžiluk, climb the minaret of the Koski Mehmed-paša Mosque for the view, then visit Muslibegović House or the Bišćević House. Spend the hot afternoon by the river or on a trip to Blagaj, and return to the bridge at sunset.

Food and drink

Try grilled trout, japrak (vine leaves stuffed with rice and meat) and a glass of local Žilavka or Blatina wine. Restaurants with terraces over the Neretva are pricier but worth one evening.

Good to know

  • Summer afternoons often pass 35 °C. Plan sightseeing for the morning and evening.
  • The divers collect money before they jump; tip if you want to see a dive.
  • The bridge stones are polished and slippery, even when dry.

Practical information

Tickets

Crossing the Old Bridge is free. The Koski Mehmed-paša Mosque and minaret, Muslibegović House and the museums charge small fees.

Opening hours

Museums and historic houses usually open around 9:00–10:00 and close in the early evening, with shorter hours in winter.

Parking

The old town is pedestrian. Use the paid car parks around it, for example on the eastern bank above Kujundžiluk.

Prices and hours change. Check before you go.
