What are stećci?
Stećci are carved medieval tombstones found across Bosnia and Herzegovina and its neighbours, most from the 14th and 15th centuries. In 2016 UNESCO listed 28 of their graveyards as World Heritage. At Radimlja, more than a hundred stones stand by the road, decorated with spirals, rosettes, knights and the famous figure with an oversized raised hand.
Combine with Stolac
Stolac is one of the oldest towns in the country, with stone houses along the Bregava river, old water mills and small waterfalls. Spend an hour in the old town, then drive to Daorson to see walls built in the 4th century BC.
